Sorry for the delay in posting these notes from our Fundraising Committee meeting on March 13th!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Members present at this meeting: Mike Leppo, Glenn Nagel, Rebecca Pleger, Sheryl Sukolsky
Best meeting day/ time for members present was Wednesday at 7 or 7:30pm, anywhere in midtown. We agreed to use the blog to decide the next date, time, and location.
We brainstormed some ideas for fundraising:
1. Ball for young professionals
• this event would take a lot of time to plan and we would need to start far in advance.
• not sure if this would be possible to hold the Ball in 2007 then.
2. Wine tasting
• charge about $35 for tickets
• we would need to work on getting donations for the wine
3. Sell raffle tickets in Fall in connection with the recruitment/ volunteer recognition event
• it was agreed this was a fairly easy fundraiser and we should keep this as an annual fundraiser.
• we should try to get the prizes for the raffle winners earlier though – starting now.
4. Work on getting large corporate sponsors.
5. Obtain grants from companies
• follow Donald Pun’s lead – Scripps Howard Foundation grant of $1,000.
• start with those companies that the Associates work for since it will probably be easier.
6. Get sponsors/ have a membership program where people can donate money directly to the Burden Center Associates.
We also thought we should check with the Events committee to see what they would like to do this year and how much money they require.
