Sorry for the delay in posting these notes from our Recruitment/ Retention Committee meeting on March 13th!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Members present at this meeting: Kristine Milone, Glenn Nagel, Emily Paul, Rebecca Pleger, Donald Pun, Andrea Schmidt
We brainstormed some ideas for recruitment events:
1. Open bar event
• each associate bringing a minimum number of friends/ potential new associates
• collect email addresses and contact info for all of the guests before they enter bar
• have an open bar give-away/ drawing – each person drops their business cards into a bowl, this way we collect their contact info in a fun way
• follow up afterwards (ex. adding the guests to the Associates emails with info on upcoming events/ meetings
• do a short presentation explaining more about our group
2. Meal delivery
• everyone brings a friend
• potential members are paired up with current members
Some ideas we came up with for a distribution tool:
1. stickers similar to the white and black country stickers
• would contain minimal information: our logo (ex. “BCA”) and the website
2. post-its
3. our website should be included on whatever distribution tool we come up with.
Slogan ideas/ comments:
1. include why we are important and why we need you
2. play on words/ well known phrases
3. something catchy, more modern
4. “Age is just a number.”
5. “For the young and the young at heart.”
Other ideas discussed:
1. update the recruitment part of the website with quotes from current members (ex. Answer question/s, “What it’s like to volunteer with the group.”, “Favorite part of volunteering.”, “Why you started volunteering.”
2. put more pictures on the website
3. put past events on the website
4. put member photos and basic info/ or answers to a question on website (ex. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?)
5. let potential recruits know we are flexible, there is no training program, and no experience is needed
6. buddy-up (pair new members with current members) – for meal delivery and to give a pre-introduction to the group (before meetings, so new members/ recruits can get to know someone already in the group)
